1st Anniversary trip

To celebrate our anniversary we headed down south to Newport Beach. This area is my favorite. All I wanted was the beach, shopping, great restaurants, and some time to relax with my husband. We got it all! Before we left I gave Aaron his gift. I decided to surprise him to go see his favorite baseball team, the Saint Louis Cardinals. With the help of my talented friend Nina we put together this little gift. I made baseball tickets and Nina baked adorable cookies for me. Aaron loved it and is so excited for the game!

The goodies

Since we ate the top of our wedding cake shortly after the wedding, I had to order a new one. Frosted Cakery made us a beautiful and delicious red velvet cake and added some pink and orange touches!

We left early Saturday morning for beaches and sunshine. We arrived just in time for lunch at Aaron's favorite spot the Panini Cafe. After eating we left our car and decided to walk through beautiful Corona Del Mar and to head to the beach to stick our toes in the sand. It was so beautiful.

After our walk we headed to Fashion Island for some afternoon shopping. Then we were off to dinner at The Rusty Pelican. It was a romantic dinner overlooking the marina watching all the boats go by, and chatting about how quickly our first year flew by.

Out on the town

Sunday morning our actual anniversary we went for breakfast at The Beachcomber at Crystal Cove. It's very festive, you park your car and ride a shuttle down to the restaurant right on the beach.

After breakfast we headed to Laguna Beach for some more sun and shopping. We enjoyed some ice-cream and boutiques.

We headed back to our hotel for a room service snack before we took some anniversary pictures (coming later). After our pictures we ate dinner at Javier's in Laguna. It is a delicious Mexican Restaurant that is very "Newport" so fun to people watch. Oooh and they have the most fabulous margaritas!

Over the weekend we stayed at The Balboa Bay Club and Resort, which is a very special hotel to us not only because it is so lovely but it is where Aaron proposed to me.  On May 24, 2009 a surprise limo picked me up with a new outfit, a rose, and a note whisking me away from the beach house where I was staying with the Continos to arrive at this hotel. He booked a grand suite, covered it with rose petals, candles, and lights and got down on one knee of the balcony overlooking the water. It was so special and romantic. To top it off a few of my best friends were waiting in the limo after the proposal to surprise me and to go out to dinner and have some fun hitting some hot spots in Newport.  The night ended by all of us having a slumber party back in the suite. A weekend I'll never forget!
